When this particular customer come to me and said hey do you think you can take this picture and make a quilt for my In-Laws 50th I knew I could not say no. So I started drawing the quilt out of graph paper and figuring out how to turn a picture of a barn quilt into a quilt. I did a lot of math, figured out how much fabric I would need then I said a prayer that it would turn out how I imagined it. The barn quilt that I was making come to life, was gifted to them and was painted by their son so I knew I had big shoes to fill.
I choose Kona Solids Cardinal Red, Citrus Yellow and Royal Blue for the front of the quilt. For the backing I choose Spruce 108" wide from Studio E, as a reminder of the woods around the cabin that the barn quilt hangs on. Since this was for their 50th wedding anniversary, the "golden year", I went with Glide No40 Cornflower and pantograph Orange Dream by Longarm League to represent rings.
I'm very happy how this quilt turned out and glad to report the couple loved it!
