Great Granny Quilt

Touching a family heirloom is something I don't take lightly. There is so many memories and endless hours of hand stitching and saving extra scraps of fabrics from other projects. When this client approached me and told me she had a unfinished quilt top from her Great Granny that she wanted to have it finished so her children would be able to use it I knew I could not say no. I took time and learned a little about her great granny and her love for flowers. The client went with a solid hunter green for the backing and for the pantograph went with swirly leaves. I adjusted the pantographs size so that each side of the squares were captured by the pantograph. I had already and handstitched many seams together and when doing so I saw just how delicate the quilt was. So, my mindset was by making the pantograph more dense it would have a stabilizing affect to the delicate hand stitching. I was thrilled with how the quilt turn out and the client was excited that now her children can snuggle on the couch under their great great granny's quilt top.
